Unity 365 is a premier resource for community, corporate and civic organizations to communicate to Northeastern Ohio’s socially and economically conscious African-American markets. Our mission is to breathe new life into community efforts, economically, culturally and socially.

The Black population of Akron, Ohio is 29.9%. This is more than double the percentage of overall Black population in the United States which is 13.4%. 

Minority Owned

There are 4488 minority owned businesses in Akron. (2012 census)

College Graduates

21.5% of Akron’s population hold college degrees.

The average household income in Akron was $40,281 in 2020. (2020 census)

BLACK PRESIDENT

Candice Eberhardt is the first Black woman to be the President of the Akron Cleveland Association of Realtors in its more than 100 years of existence.

LES CARNEY

Lester Nelson “Les” Carney (born March 31, 1934) is a retired American sprinter who won a silver medal in the 200 m at the 1960 Olympics. 

WESLEY TEMPLE AME

Dating back to 1866, Wesley Temple AME Zion Church at 104 N. Prospect St. is the oldest Black congregation in Akron.

RITA DOVE

Rita Dove: First Pulitzer Prize for Poetry (1987) and first U.S. Poet Laureate (1992).
